Hello there!

I'm an engineer in Interactive Media Technology and I solve problems through user centered design. My biggest passions are music, design, and UX/UI, and I feel myself being at the right place when I get to be creative and analytic. I have further a specialisation within Sound and Music computing, which gives me additional competence combining sound and UX.

During a summer course, an upgrade of Djupvik marina's (Djupviks hamn) website was ordered as a case for all students reading the course. The website should include requests such as show many pictures and show the weather for the next days. It was developed during two weeks.

Interactive dance

As a master's thesis, I did a project together with colleagues from KTH and Royal College of Music (KMH). In this project, the interaction between dancer and musician through sensory technology was investigated through qualitative and quantitative studies. I was specifically investigating the input design of the wearable sensors and how the technology was affecting the dancer.

Christmas Hero

In this project a Christmas themed game was developed during six weeks.

In the game, Christmas is behind the corner but the Christmas Spirit has disappeared due to the Cactus Boss. The gamer has to take back the Christmas Spirit into town by finding gifts and solve the riddles, and from them deliver the gifts to the right character. For every delivered gift, the Christmas Spirit will progressively grow in terms of music, decorations, and snow.

I had the responsibility of the game world design and usability testings. I also composed the background music. The game was made in Unity and the composition was made in MuseScore.

In this project an improvisational algorithm was developed together with a team of four people in collaboration with KMH, Royal College of Music. The algorithm could play and improvise together with a human musician based on the improvisation method called Flocker.

It was developed in Max/MSP.

In this project, an algorithm that could detect chords was developed. It detects the chromagram and by that finds out the chords of the first four bars of a song.

It was developed in NumPy.

This web music game was made in a team of four. The user can create a game or play a game. It uses Spotify as database and the user needs thereby be logged in into one's Spotify account.

It was developed in JS/HTML/CSS/React/Bootstrap.

Konsolofon

Together with a collegue, this instrument was developed. It is called konsolofon, as it is made with shelf brackets ("konsoler" in Swedish) and is based on the xylophone, but is more similar in frequency to bells. The shelf brackets were cut with a notch with a specific length to achieve the aimed frequency and tone of each shelf bracket. The konsolofon is tuned in E minor blues scale.

Dark Exploration

In this project, an exploration through sound was developed. The user gets to explore a room in darkness through sound. Every wall is mapped with an instrument, from a music track consisting of four instruments. In the middle of the room, the sweet spot is detected, but when moving toward a specific wall, the specific mapped instrument will be heard more and the user can in turn get help through sound to locate in the room.

The project was developed together with a colleague in SuperCollider and used Motion Capture to detect the movements.

The Cat Theremin

The Cat Theremin lets the user playing it like the theremin, where the horizontal line is changing the frequency and the vertical line is changing the volume.

It was developed in SuperCollider and is using Leap Motion.

MixAR

MixAR is a mobile application where the user can go between musicians in an ensemble and listen to the specific instrument played. The instruments, or musician, can be placed differently using cards. This can make the user listen to an ensemble in a bigger or smaller room and listen to how the spatial sound of the ensemble will be like.

It was developed in Unity using Augmented Reality (AR)

This application is a note-taking application where students can easily make and share notes. The course aimed to have a focus on UX and design and its theme was to develop something for social including.

RGB/SW

In the reception at Media Technology at KTH, a film project is always produced. In 2016, the traditional film project called RGB/SW was made, that is a story about the super heroes Röd, Grön, Blå, Swart, and Wit. I was the leader of the music composition team, and also composed many tracks for the film series. This video is the title intro to the series and was composed by me and mastered together with Johan Wetterin. The composition was made in MuseScore.

Something that was challenging was that the music had to be composed and produced before seeing any film material. I only knew the story and the script to base the music on.

CHRISTMAS HERO

In a Computer game course taken in 2019, a Christmas themed game was developed by me and a team of four others. In the game, the spirit of Christmas had disappeared but was progressively coming back when Christmas gifts were delivered to the right character. The music was therefore progressively becoming more Christmassy in terms of Christmas related instruments and melody. In level 1, only wind sound was heard. In level 2, I wanted to make a simple and quite careful melody that felt hopeful and happy but not too Christmassy. As I wanted a feeling of continuity between the levels, the beginning of the music in level 3 has the same melody as in level 2, but is then continuing in melody. In the final part, I wanted to create a happy and as Christmassy feeling as possible. As the user has reached the end of the game by then, it is relatively short and is not repeating.

The composition was made in MuseScore by me. What was challenging was that it was hard knowing how long a level will take to play, as the composition was made while the game was developed. That made it hard to know how long a piece should be and how many musical features to be made. I made the level pieces therefore quite short that could be repeated.
